Cushion Shoes
Hey, did you know that cushiony (maximalist) shoes can INCREASE impact forces and loading rate??
There have been a few studies now showing, through 3D kinetic/kinematic models, that cushiony shoes compared to neutral shoes actually increase these forces. This is important as peak forces have long been associated with increased risk of injury. This is especially true in new runners. We often use running shoes as an intervention at OrthoWell. If you have a history of lower extremity overuse injuries, this is something to consider.
