Beyond the Classroom: Clemente’s Community Initiative
I’m writing to share the story of my Spanish teacher, Clemente Quiacain Juarez, a dedicated educator from Guatemala who is facing significant medical challenges. Clemente has been providing online Spanish lessons to students worldwide and it is our future dream to start a physical therapy clinic together in his poor pueblo. Unfortunately, medical expenses have placed a heavy burden on him and his family and we could use your help.
This blog post aims to share Clemente’s story and seek your support. By understanding his situation, we can come together as a community to offer assistance and make a positive impact on his life.
Clemente’s Journey
Clemente is a 42-year-old Guatemalan Spanish teacher who has been providing online Spanish lessons to students worldwide. His passion for teaching and his commitment to his students are evident in his engaging and effective approach.
Unfortunately, Clemente and his family have been burdened by unexpected medical expenses. Last year, he underwent a $2,000 orthopedic surgery that was a financial strain. The average monthly wage in Guatemala is only $400, making it difficult to cover such a substantial cost.
To add to their challenges, Clemente’s father recently required eye surgery and medications that would cost $1,400 per eye. With no pension or social security system in Guatemala, Clemente and his brothers have been struggling to find the necessary funds.
A Community-Driven Initiative
Despite these hardships, Clemente remains a beacon of hope and generosity. He is actively involved in a community project to provide eyeglasses to those in need in his pueblo. This initiative, which he started with a friend from the United States, is a testament to his dedication to helping others.

With Clemente’s help, Chris has a dream of becoming fluent in Spanish so that one day he can work directly with Clemente in his village of San Pedro providing desperately needed physical therapy services. In this way, Clemente and Chris could work together to change the lives of even more people and contribute to the well-being of those in Guatemala.
A Call for Support
It is with a heavy heart that Clemente is asking for your help. The financial burdens he and his family are facing have been overwhelming. Your generosity can make a significant difference in their lives.
Please consider donating to help Clemente cover his medical expenses and support his family. Every contribution, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated.
