Learn About Preventable Neuropathy Factors

Based on the references that I have listed below, in the United States, the average intake of B6 in food sources is 1.9 mg

The second study did not find any neuropathic presentations with daily supplements under 200 mg but the question with peripheral neuropathy patient’s is how long have they been taking these supplements? Do they have chronically elevated blood levels of B6 or pyridoxine from taking years of supplements?

As an example, I just looked at my supplement that I get from Life Extension. It is their one per day multivitamin, and it has 75 mg of B6, which is, as stated on the bottle , 4412% of the recommended daily value. Huh? Why? The big question here: Have we actually been causing peripheral neuropathy with these supplements?

So the recommended dosing chart below suggest only 1.7 mg for men over 50 and only .5 mg for women over 50. The only time they advise supplementation is for co-treatment with isoniazid, but at pyridoxine levels of 10-25mg.

The Activate supplement that we include in our Neuropathy package had 10 mg which, as stated on the bottle, Is 588% above the recommended daily value.

As I scrutinize the contents of the supplement, I also question the percentage of B1 and B12. This is also something that needs to be evaluated for its effect on peripheral Neuropathy. These percentages are 33% and 2883% respectively.

Stay tuned for my list of supplements to replace your multivitamin or the Activate neuropathy supplement that is currently part of our neuropathy program.
